Berlin Alexanderplatz
Hampton by Hilton

The project was exhibited at da!2019 at Stilwerk, Berlin.

Currently this Hampton, with 344 rooms, is the largest of this world brand hotel company. In a separate part of the building are also 40 apartments. These have a separate entrance from the hotel and are oriented with balconies to the west and the green interior.

The L-shaped building closes the urban block edge of Otto-Braun- and Mollstraße and results in a new urban figure in the Alexanderplatz Masterplan. Between the neighboring buildings and the new construction a long, largely leafy inner area is created, which opens out to the street. Here a quiet place with amenity for the neighborhood is developed.

The façade is divided into a largely glazed ground floor and eight upper floors for hotel and residential use. The façade, which is strongly horizontally structured by white balustrade bands, responds to the dynamics of the main thoroughfare. The covering of the window ribbons with perforated, silver aluminum is partly transparent, and provides a material lightness across the large area – and also serves as sun protection and as a fall barrier. The well-proportioned waveform is reminiscent of curtains, and symbolizes the comfort of the hotel.al noise protection. The project has won awards for its energy-saving, sustainable design.
