In architectural terms the building at Lennéstrasse 5 emancipates itself from its stone "cousins" in the immediate western vicinity, partly through its cladding made of silver-metallic painted aluminium panels. It is a "light", elegant and modern building whose architecture plays timelessly with classical elements. Northwards towards the park the building is extensively glazed, with "open" corners and shallow balconies, which also function for cleaning purposes, in front of the glass facade. The design briefing included strictly functional demands such as the omission of a facade cleaning cradle, partition connections in a 1.35 meter grid etc. and a high standard of technical fitout. Design principles borrowed from car manufacturing helped to find an elegant facade solution as overall concept, solving in new ways the design problem of industrial grid-pattern facades with wide mullions. The dark mullions of the room-high glazed facade recede into the backdrop, while slender silver profiles ending in fine curves play with light and shade and lend the facade an effect of depth.
